Introduction

The LBP (Land Bank of the Philippines) Insurance Brokerage, Inc. (LIBI) was organized as a wholly owned subsidiary of Land Bank of the Philippines on October 22, 1981 under Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Registration No. 105764. On May 16, 1983, its Articles of Incorporation was amended increasing the number of Directors of the Board from 9 to 11. This was further amended on October 17, 1994 increasing the LIBI's Authorized Capital Stock from P20,000,000 to P300,000,000 and revising its secondary purpose.

It was created primarily for the purpose of engaging in the business of general insurance brokerage management and consultancy more particularly as follows:

  To act as Insurance Broker for Life, health, accident, motor car, casualty, surety and fidelity, marine cargo and hull, comprehensive liability insurance and other insurance coverage allied with an incident to the above-mentioned lines.

  To engage in management and consultancy work on insurance and in this connection, to hold, own, purchase, acquire, underwrite, obtained participation in and manage the business of any corporation, partnership or equity.

History

LBP Insurance Brokerage, Inc. (LIBI) was organized as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Land Bank of the Philippines on October 22, 1981. LIBI was primarily established to service the bank's insurance requirements, its subsidiaries, its clients/borrowers, and other government offices. It was created for the purpose of engaging in the business of general insurance brokerage management and consultancy services on insurance-related activities to its clients.

LIBI was registered at Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 8, 1982. Its Certificate of Authority/Insurance Brokers License was officially issued by the Insurance Commission on September 10, 1982. On January of 1983 LIBI started its operation with initial capital of P0.250 million.

The first office is located at Buendia Ave., Makati Metro Manila c/o Land bank of the Phils Bldg. and eventually transferred to 10th floor. of Century Tower corner, Tordesillas St. dela Costa St. Salcedo Village, Makati City, but on October 27,2003 LIBI was able to acquire its own office unit at 12flr Sycip Law Center bldg. 105 Paseo de Roxas Legaspi Village Makati City.

In April 1995 Forex Division was created to engage in foreign currency trading and ceased operation last June 2017.

The LIBI EMPLOYEES’ MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE was founded June 4,2004 of ATTY. JESUS F. DIAZ as its founder with the aim to serve and develop economic condition of employees of LIBI.

LIBI passed the accreditation of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 December 27,2018 its Quality Management System has been assessed and registered by NQA.
